2012 colours

Just finished redesigning this fridge magnet for Leeds Postcards. The pallet was teal, brown purple mustard and burnt umber. This words are an old Chekov quote  - any idiot can face a crisis it is this day to day living that wears you out. By using the colour pallet it brings the design bang up to date. You can buy the fridge magnet here http://www.leedspostcards.co.uk/products/246-day-to-day-fridge-magnet.aspxImage

fridge magnet walk dance

Just finished designing a new fridge magnet for Leeds Postcards . The inspiration was 1970′s disco and talent shows. The words are from a Zimbabwean proverb. If you can walk you can dance, if you can talk you can sing.

Leeds Postcards Button Badges and Fridge Magnets

I have been busy producing Button badges and Fridge Magnets for Leeds Postcards. What started as a simple idea soon revealed itself to be more complicated than first considered. Leeds Postcards produce radical cards and are stocked by art galleries, bookshops and health food stores across the UK. They have a great selection of powerful cards which seemed to be crying out to be turned into button badges and fridge magnets. However, when revisited one quickly realises that the media changes the message. Sometimes this is to do with where it is displayed other times it is the constraint of a different size and shape.
Well I was hurried along into production by Oxfam books putting in an order of badges for the Hay on wye festival .The badges were then taken up by Leeds art Gallery for their new shop, they also asked for 25 designs of the fridge magnets. This meant we had to go full steam ahead and produce the artwork and get them produced. So thanks to our stockists support we have some great new products ready to go on sale on the Leeds Postcards website

Delighted to see that Leeds Postcards have got their own online store. Leeds Postcards are an alternative press that create original pieces of activist political art as postcards and Badges, they have been going since 1979 and published many famous cards including anti thatcher, support for the striking miners and free Nelson Mandela. They are still very active and their most recent card features the David Cameron Think Tank card that was recently featured in the Guardian newspaper. Why not pay them a visit and at www.leedspostcards.co.uk

Whitby gothic weekend

goth from the whiby gothic weekend 2010
what better way to spend a Halloween sunday than going to the seaside to watch goths eat ice cream and buy fudge. Steam Punk was definitely a favourite theme with some great brass and clockwork guns, eyeglasses and jewellery. My favourite was Bingley the dog Goth – but might be a bit biased here

Poisonous Mushrooms

Flying Agaric

Last year the woods were full of berries and the rowan trees looked spectacular but this year the stars of Autumn were the mushrooms. The Flying Agaric mushrooms, fondly remembered as the mushroom on which the caterpillar sat in Alice in Wonderland, looked amazing. They just kept on coming

But will they see it?

Fresh from Google Labs: Google Browser Size, a nifty visualization tool for checking how much of a web page sits “above the fold,” i.e., what’s visible in Google without scrolling. Just type in any URL to see how the site looks. Color contours show different window sizes and the percentage of users that have this size or larger. (Presumably these percentages are based on Google’s own statistics.) For instance, in the example above, the “donate now” button falls within the 80% contour, meaning that 20% of users cannot see this button when they first visit the page. If getting donations is a priority of the site, the web design team now knows they ought to position the button higher on the page.

The tool works as an overlay, allowing you to interact normally with the page you’re examining. Thus you can easily review other pages on the site as well. This tool also works for designs that are still in development–you are able to view a .png on a project site.

New Year New Phone

Why not combine a love all things Vampire and the latest technology – this implant uses your blood to create a display which can then work as a phone, MP3 player or even video – this is very weird
